Tune Into The Vibes

yes. you. do you have a hard time finding top-tier music? when i say top-tier, i’m talking low-key vibey music. ya know. the folks who listened to sza before sza became this sza, they know the vibes. the chosen ones who were listening to Doja Cat when she wasn’t a cat * she didn’t say meow. she said moo. they were there when Amala and her EP dropped. let’s not take it back to the greatest time we have yet to witness. the early 2010s. when Kendrick Lamar dropped Overlydedicated and Section.80. wow. my heart melted at the memory alone. real music lovers know that the best concerts are $20. well maybe not $20 because + tax. the lovers of one of life’s greatest gifts. music. know that money well spent is $400. at a musical festival. for 4 days. in the middle of the woods. or a beach. maybe even in a desert. because it’s definitely not a drake concert or a festival in Vegas. in a streaming world, they own vinyls and a record player, too. ya know when you’re in a coffee shop, and you hear the best song that you’ve never heard + may never hear again? that’s the type of music i’m talking about. so i pose this question again: do you have a hard time finding top-tier music? if so, have no fear. because i got you, boo! but before we get into it. download spotify if you have not. already. before we get into it again, i’m gonna discuss some of the best stand-out low-key hits to my heart lately. I mean, there are so many, but here are three.

LaufeY

i love her. she has a sweet soul. trust me. i know. because her melodies speak to my soul and meet me in the mornings on grey moody days. the most. couldn’t ask for better company. i didn’t know she was so popular tho. i tried to buy tickets to her show once & got stuck in a virtual waiting room & never got a ticket, but still we follow the cookie crumbs and trust the vibes. soooo this song here. goddess. standing ovation. masterpiece. it’s about a woman who’s seen as a goddess.

it’s a special name to be called. or seen as. if i were to go further with a definition of a goddess. i would say a woman who is kind. someone who reminds you of love. in a pure way. like from your mom. she loves children and animals. like every disney princess. she reminds you that miracles happen. like in Cinderella. you might wonder if magic falls at her feet. or why she’s driving you crazy? where’d logic go when love graced your heart? & you just met her. in the song above ^ Laufey said, “she’s a goddess on stage, but human when we’re alone.” although she may be seen as a goddess she is not only such a thing. she’s a human. & she has scars. & bruises. & some are invisible to the naked eye. bad things have happened to her, too. she’s more than just a pretty face & a kind soul. it’s her resilience & her ability to hold onto love that makes her a goddess. she knows that even the darkest nights can bring the brightest tomorrows. but once you find out the true makings of her, and she is reduced to skin and bones. the glamour wears off. will you be disappointed with her in the morning? when you find out she’s merely human. those are words from the song. i just moved 'em around. but vibes, right? i told you. next.

Jungle

I don’t know what side of TikTok you’re on. i don’t know if your fyp is inclusive of immaculate vibes or not. beware. if you search for “Jungle’s - Back on 74” on the clock app, the vibes are set for your fyp. at least the next few days. it’s giving happiness. it’s giving freedom. dancing like no one is watching at your favorite dive bar in austin, tx on ladies night. if you know, you know. & yes, that was very descriptive. so, if you haven’t clicked on that YouTube video, go ahead. catch the vibe. bob ya head because I’m actually about to take you around the corner now that we’re on the right side of TikTok. because it’s the remix. the clock app hasn’t caught up to this one yet & it’s soothing.

reminds me of the year 1974. in a studio. with marvin gaye. al green. & fleetWoodMac. a little piece of heaven on earth. with a slice of pie. yummy.

while we’re taking a step back in time. let’s get into

Sessa

this photo belongs on an album from the 1970s. where’s the vintage vinyl record? because I need to find this at a thrift store.

would you believe me if i said this photo was from the scariest year of our lifetime? 2020. yep. Brazil. Portuguese. no hablo Portuguese, but I know good music when i hear it. & Sessa got it! haven’t heard one bad song from my mans yet. his tunes deserve nights with candlelight, tho. not gloomy, moody mornings. hmmmm the smile on my face as i’m writing to it. can’t wait til you’re graced with the tunes of these special melodies. he has some shows on the West Coast coming up., maybe past. depends on when you’re reading this.

so are you wondering? wondering where can you catch these vibes? did i read your mind? but you’re lost on where to start because you’re a victim. a victim of popular music? it’s okay. if streaming didn’t exist, you’d only know the songs on the radio, huh? well, look no further. i made a playlist. every song above mentioned in one place. with some additional 70’s vibes. & other languages. included. warning. this playlist was not especially curated. i just went through my liked songs + put songs I thought would make a good playlist together. this was curated in less than 5 minutes. is it a gift? a talent. a real nigga? muse? a studio queen. groupie. idk, but here you go.

keep the good vibes going & add the songs you like to your liked playlist on Spotify. ai will gracefully direct you to a world of top-tier music over time. stay on the music path less traveled, my friends. you will find many treasures and plenty of gems. I can be your sage if you need more guidance on this journey & share more playlists. so call me + beep me, if you want to reach me. enjoy!

p.s. it’s slow + chill vibes. of course.
